The Ashland Christian Health Center (ACHC) opened its doors on August 16, 2003 as an outreach ministry of the churches of Ashland County to provide holistic health care for the uninsured or under-insured individuals of Ashland County. ACHA is staffed by volunteers who are committed to taking care of the whole person just as Jesus did.
Cooking Classes
Cooking classes are held on the third Tuesday afternoon & the fourth Thursday evening of each month with a different menu each month.
Vision Screening Tests
We have been chosen by the Ohio Optometric Association (OOA) and Ohio Associations of Free Clinics (OAFC) to receive a vision screening grant to test preschool children 3 to 5 years of age. Twenty volunteers from around the county have taken a six-hour training class and have been certified by OOA. Thru May approximately 160 children have been screened at six preschools/daycares in the county.
If you are aware of children ages 3 to 5 who parents or guardians would like to their children to have a free vision screening, have them call the Ashland Christian Health Center at
419-903-0475. Training can be held at our location.
Mammograms
Ashland Christian Health Center is part of the SA2 Collaborative which also consists of the Ashland County Cancer Association and Samaritan Regional Health System. Recently SA2 received a grant from the Susan G. Komen Foundation which will allow us to educate more than 1,400 Ashland and Richland County women and men about breast cancer and early detection. Funding is also available for 140 uninsured and under-insured women in the two counties to receive FREE mammograms and clinical breast exams.
Mammograms and exams will be provided at Samaritan Regional, Kettering, the Frank Miller Memorial Building and at a location in the northern part of Ashland County. Women interested in receiving more information about this project or registering for a mammogram are encouraged to call the Ashland County Cancer Association at 419-281-1863 or the Ashland Christian Health Center at 419-903-0475.
